APRIL MyHEALTH Singapore: local modular cover in Singapore dollars

APRIL MyHEALTH Singapore is a local product, not APRIL's worldwide plan: modular private medical insurance (IPMI) in Singapore dollars, underwritten by Sompo Insurance Singapore. IPMIAsia explains the three tiers, the optional modules, the underwriting routes and how it compares with global cover.

Last updated: 20 October 2026 · Reviewed by IPMIAsia
In short: APRIL MyHEALTH Singapore is a Singapore-only plan in Singapore dollars, underwritten by Sompo Insurance Singapore, with Essential, Extensive and Elite tiers carrying SGD2m, SGD4m and SGD6m hospital limits and optional outpatient and maternity modules. It suits expats who expect to stay in Singapore and want a locally licensed insurer with a choice of FMU, moratorium or CPME underwriting; people likely to move should compare a global plan.
Key takeaways
  • Optional outpatient is capped at SGD7,000 on Essential but described as full cover on Extensive and Elite.
  • FMU and CPME are accepted through age 65; moratorium only through age 45, with lifetime renewal described.
  • Areas are worldwide or worldwide excluding the USA; there is no regional-only area on the Singapore product.
  • Deductibles are SGD0, 2,000, 5,000 or 10,000, and outpatient coinsurance is waived inside APRIL's Panel Network.

A local product for people living in Singapore

MyHEALTH Singapore is written for one country. Foreigners, Singapore nationals and permanent residents may apply, the limits are in Singapore dollars, and the risk sits with Sompo Insurance Singapore Pte. Ltd. with APRIL Singapore Pte Ltd administering the plan. It is a different product from APRIL MyHealth International, the worldwide plan in euros or US dollars, and from APRIL MyHEALTH Thailand. Our Singapore country page explains where a local plan fits alongside global cover in one of Asia's most expensive healthcare markets.

Deductibles are SGD0, 2,000, 5,000 or 10,000. Two areas are published: worldwide, and worldwide excluding the USA. Dental and optical and maternity are optional, and the benefit schedule and policy terms govern waiting periods, exclusions and pre-authorisation.

How to read the structure

The tier sets three things at once: the hospital limit, the shape of the outpatient module and the maternity allowance.

Eligibility and underwriting

This is the part of the Singapore product that gives it unusual flexibility. Three underwriting routes are published, each with its own age limit:

FMU (full medical underwriting)
Accepted through age 65. You disclose your full medical history and APRIL confirms the terms before you buy.
Moratorium
Accepted through age 45. No upfront declaration; pre-existing conditions may be reconsidered after two treatment-free and symptom-free years.
CPME (continued personal medical exclusions)
Accepted through age 65. Requires an approved previous insurer, and carries your existing exclusions across.

APRIL describes lifetime renewal. The moratorium route's lower age limit means a younger applicant with a clean recent history can avoid the questionnaire, while an older applicant or someone switching insurer uses FMU or CPME. Our pre-existing conditions guide explains how to choose between them.

Claims, network and the area choice

APRIL publishes digital claim submission, cashless worldwide hospital access and 4,500 Asian facilities; the facility figure is APRIL's own statement. Outpatient coinsurance is waived within its Panel Network, so where you are treated affects what you pay on the outpatient module.

Unlike the Thailand product, the Singapore plan's areas are worldwide or worldwide excluding the USA. There is no regional-only area, which suits the way Singapore-based expats tend to travel: the plan covers you across Asia and beyond, with the USA in or out. Our guide to regional versus worldwide cover in Asia explains what that means for the premium.

Who APRIL MyHEALTH Singapore suits

A strong fit if you live in Singapore and expect to stay, you want limits in Singapore dollars with a locally licensed insurer behind the policy, you value a choice of underwriting route, and you want outpatient and maternity as options rather than built in.

Worth comparing alternatives if you may move to another country (a local plan does not travel with you the way a global one does), you are over 45 and would prefer a moratorium, or you want to see the SGD limits against US-dollar global plans. Frequently asked questions

Is APRIL MyHEALTH Singapore the same as APRIL's international plan?
No. MyHEALTH Singapore is a Singapore-specific local product in Singapore dollars, underwritten by Sompo Insurance Singapore and administered by APRIL Singapore. APRIL MyHealth International is a separate worldwide plan in euros or US dollars.
What are the tiers and limits?
Essential with a SGD2m annual hospital and surgery limit, Extensive with SGD4m and Elite with SGD6m. Optional outpatient is SGD7,000 on Essential and full cover on the other two; optional maternity is SGD7,000, SGD13,500 and SGD20,000 respectively. Evacuation and repatriation are up to US$1m on all tiers.
What underwriting routes does APRIL Singapore offer?
Full medical underwriting and CPME through age 65, and moratorium through age 45. FMU requires full disclosure, moratorium may reconsider pre-existing conditions after two treatment-free and symptom-free years, and CPME requires an approved previous insurer.
Who can apply?
Foreigners, Singapore nationals and permanent residents. APRIL describes lifetime renewal. The age limits depend on the underwriting route chosen.
What areas of cover are available?
Worldwide, or worldwide excluding the USA. There is no regional-only area on the Singapore product, so the plan covers you across Asia and beyond either way, and leaving out the USA is the way to reduce the premium.
How does IPMIAsia compare a local Singapore plan with global cover?
IPMIAsia runs Nomi, which prices APRIL MyHEALTH Singapore alongside 20+ international insurers for your age and cover level, and an experienced adviser confirms the schedule, waiting periods and underwriting route before you buy.
