XN Global health insurance for expats in Asia
XN Global Solutions is a newer international private medical insurance (IPMI) plan with a five-tier ladder and high limits. IPMIAsia explains the tiers, the full-refund core benefits, the chronic-cover trade-off at Base, who underwrites it, and how it reads for an expat in Asia.
- Base does not cover routine management of chronic conditions; from Elevation upwards it is covered at full refund, subject to the outpatient aggregate.
- Annual maximums are US$/€3m on Base, US$/€3.5m on Elevation and US$/€4m on Ascent, rising further on Summit and Apex.
- XN Global is a Managing General Agent in the Henner Group; the insurance risk is underwritten by Underwriters at Lloyd's.
- Plans are available in USD or EUR with identical numeric limits, and the area of cover is confirmed at quote.
Five tiers, one ladder
XN Global Solutions is built for individuals and families and is deliberately simple: five tiers, each lifting the annual maximum and the benefit limits, so the cover and the premium scale together. It leads with strong limits and full-refund core cover at a competitive price point.
| Tier | Annual maximum | Position |
|---|---|---|
| Base | US$/€3,000,000 | Entry level, leanest premium |
| Elevation | US$/€3,500,000 | Adds outpatient and chronic cover |
| Ascent | US$/€4,000,000 | Higher limits across the board |
| Summit | Higher still | Broad, high-limit cover |
| Apex | Top tier | The most comprehensive |
Plans are available in USD or EUR with identical numeric limits in either currency. Exact limits and the area of cover are confirmed at quote.
What is covered at full refund
Core hospital cover is strong even at the entry tier, and many of the headline benefits are paid at full refund on all five plans:
- Hospital and day-patient charges, diagnostic tests, reconstructive surgery, renal failure and dialysis, and organ transplants, at full refund on every tier, with donor costs up to US$/€50,000.
- Emergency road ambulance and parent accommodation when a child is hospitalised, at full refund on every tier.
- In-patient psychiatric care scales by tier: up to 30 days on Base and Elevation, 45 on Ascent, 60 on Summit and Apex.
- Prosthesis and terminal-illness benefits step up with the tier.
Full refund means the benefit is paid in full rather than capped at a fixed sum, within the plan's annual maximum and terms.
Chronic conditions: mind the entry tier
This is the single most important trade-off in the range. Base is a keen entry point if you mainly want protection against large events, but if you manage an ongoing condition such as diabetes or hypertension, the lowest tier can be a false economy: the hospital cover is there, the routine management is not. Step up to at least Elevation. Whether an existing condition is covered at all is a separate underwriting question; our pre-existing conditions guide explains the difference.

Underwriting and who carries the risk
The structure is worth understanding. XN Global is a Managing General Agent (MGA), part of the Henner Group, and it distributes and administers the plan. The insurance risk itself is underwritten by Underwriters at Lloyd's, which means Lloyd's of London syndicates. In other words, XN Global is the administrator and the cover sits behind the Lloyd's market.
Your medical history is assessed at application and exact terms are confirmed before you buy. Nomi flags the terms during a comparison, and an experienced adviser confirms them.
XN Global for expats in Asia
XN Global confirms the area of cover at quote rather than publishing a fixed menu, so the first thing to ask is whether the USA can be left out and whether the area you are offered covers the countries you move between. For most expats in Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines or Japan, a worldwide area without the USA is the sensible benchmark, and our guide to regional versus worldwide cover in Asia explains why.
The currency choice is USD or EUR, with the same numeric limits in either. US dollars make XN easy to compare with the bulk of the Asian IPMI market; euros suit a European family paid in that currency. The high annual maximums and full-refund hospital benefits are the reason XN tends to appeal to people who want big-event protection in a region where a serious admission in a private hospital in Singapore or Hong Kong can be expensive. The newer brand is the thing to weigh against that: the cover sits with Lloyd's underwriters, but XN itself is a more recent name than the established insurers on this site. IPMIAsia includes XN Global in its whole-market comparison through Nomi.

Who XN Global suits
A strong fit if you want high benefit limits and full-refund core cover at a competitive price, and you like a simple tier ladder you can scale up over time. Base is a keen entry point if big-event protection is the main aim.
Worth comparing if you manage a chronic condition (start at Elevation, not Base) or you would prefer a longer-established insurer brand. Browse all insurers or start with the cost guide for Asia.
